Winter Is Kinda Cool Down Here!

Winter Is Kinda Cool Down Here!

There’s no denying the days are colder, but winter on the Mornington Peninsula is just as much fun as the summer season if you know where to look.  It’s full of salty air, woolly socks, and wide-open space to explore.

It’s the season of windswept beaches, rugged cliff walks, hot toasties, and whale tail sightings. Of muddy boots, foggy breath, and snuggly jumpers pulled over wind-kissed cheeks. The crowds disappear, the pace slows, and there’s a different kind of magic to be found.

That’s why we’ve created the Winter Activity Book - your family’s guide to cool season thrills, rainy day creativity, and kid-friendly Peninsula adventures.

What We've Been Up To...

So far this season, we’ve:

  • Braved a brisk beach walk
  • Tried to catch a whale passing by one of our local lookouts (it's a game of patience!)
  • Pulled together our list of local cafes to do some hot chocolate taste testing
  • Started tracking the weather with our homemade weather wheel
  • Rugged up and made it through the Bushrangers Bay Maze (on paper… for now)
  • Visited MPRG for creative inspiration to kick start our own gallery masterpieces
  • Been peering at the night sky and trying our best to identify different constellations. And yes -  we’re hoping to catch the Southern Lights again (fingers crossed!)

Why We Love Winter on the Ninch

Winter slows us down in the best way. It makes room for fire pits and slow drives, for exploring without the crowds, and for spotting wildlife that makes a big splash.

Who needs snow, when we’ve got sea spray, saltwater flurries, and beaches all to ourselves. There’s something pretty cool about winter down here. (Literally.)

You can grab your Winter Activity Book here, or find our Mornington Peninsula ABC Book stocked in local cafes and shops across the region.

Tag us in your wintering moments! From muddy boots to masterpiece drawings - we’d love to see how your family’s embracing winter on the Ninch.
