Springtime magic at Briars Wildlife Sanctuary

Springtime magic at Briars Wildlife Sanctuary

Hello nature lovers!

Spring has sprung, and there's no better time to get outdoors and enjoy the vibrant beauty of Mother Nature. Today, we're taking you on a delightful journey to one of our favourite places, the Briars Wildlife Sanctuary.

A Symphony of Nature's Melodies

As you step into the sanctuary, be prepared to be serenaded by a chorus of birdsong. Dozens of different bird species fill the air with their melodies, creating a harmonious backdrop to your adventure. Listen closely, and you might catch  the contagious laugh of a kookaburra.

Wildlife Encounters Await

One of the highlights of our visits is exploring along the boardwalks and watching the birdlife from the bird hides. These strategically positioned hides offer a front-row seat to observe the incredible diversity of bird species that call Briars home. It's a birdwatcher's paradise!

A Meeting with Kangaroos

Keep your eyes peeled as you meander along the boardwalks and bush trails; you'll likely spot some of the sanctuary's more famous residents – like the Eastern Grey Kangaroos. It's a magical experience to watch these gentle giants in their natural habitat. And if you're super lucky, you might even glimpse of a koala, emu, or echidna!

Choose Your Own Adventure

The sanctuary offers a variety of walking trails, each with a different length. The best part? They're not too steep, making them perfect for little explorers. Whilst my little guy loves the nature walks, he also loves exploring the historic homestead surrounds, the heritage seed garden with its resident Berkshire Pigs, and the historic sheds with their farming relics.

Picnic in the Park

After your adventure, why not unwind with a delightful picnic in the sprawling green fields? Briars Wildlife Sanctuary provides numerous picnic tables and even some BBQ facilities for those who prefer a sizzling feast.

Have you been to the Briars Wildlife Sanctuary this Spring? We'd love to hear what you spotted on your adventure.

Happy Spring!
