There’s something truly special about autumn on the Mornington Peninsula. The air gets a little crisper, the colours a little richer, and the pace of life slows just enough, making space for wonderful adventures, explorations, and a little creativity too.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been soaking up the best of the season with local adventures inspired by our ABC Book and our NEW Autumn Activity Book. Whether it’s spotting the first fallen leaves, collecting nature treasures for craft, or heading out on a spontaneous day trip, there’s no shortage of ways to make memories close to home.
We've already managed to tick off a few things from our Autumn Bucket List (you’ll find it inside the Activity Book), including:
- Wandering through Seawinds Gardens
- Exploring a new beach - we walked down the steps opposite the Royal Hotel in Mornington to discover Royal Beach
- Going on a bushwalk to spot wildlife - we ferried over the French Island and had some up close encounters with local koalas
- Picking up local apples from Torello Farm Gate to cook up something special
- Strolling along Mornington Pier and Flinders Pier where we spotted a huge seal stretching below!
- Scooting at Balnarring Skate Park
- Visiting McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery after a recent stock drop
- And on a personal bucket list note, I finally took flight on Arthurs Seat Eagle to take in the spectacular bay views
- We’re even set up for a little stargazing tonight, hopeful to catch the meteor shower
What’s Inside the Autumn Activity Book?

- Our very own Autumn Bucket List of local adventures
- Fun indoor pages like dot-to-dots, mazes, crosswords, a jigsaw puzzle, and drawing prompts (including how to draw a whale!)
- Creative activities like a mushroom craft and "design your own" sculpture, inspired by local walks, landmarks and International Sculpture Day
- And just in time for Mother’s Day, a downloadable voucher booklet filled with thoughtful, locally inspired fun
Whether you're heading out for a weekend wander or staying cosy indoors, this book is designed to keep curious minds busy and connected to the beautiful place we call home.
Why We Love Local
One of the most magical parts of creating these resources is hearing from families who are discovering new places, noticing little details in nature, or using the book as a jumping-off point for bigger conversations about local animals, art, habitats, and community.
There’s still time to make the most of the season - so pick a page, plan a local outing, or get creative with the kids before autumn fades away.
You can grab the Autumn Activity Book as a digital download here, and if you're local, keep an eye out — our Mornington Peninsula ABC Book is also stocked at some of your favourite cafes and shops around the Ninch.
Happy adventuring — and don’t forget to tag us in your autumn fun!
