Celebrate Book Week 2025 on the Mornington Peninsula - Story Time & Cooking Workshop

Looking for a creative, fun-filled way to celebrate Book Week 2025 on the Mornington Peninsula? With this year’s theme, “Book an Adventure!”, we’re inviting families to do just that with a one-of-a-kind workshop that combines storytime, hands-on cooking, local discovery, and a whole lot of alphabet fun.

On Saturday 16 August, Stef’s Mini Chefs and NINCH KIDS are joining forces to bring you an unforgettable 1.5-hour session designed especially for children aged 2 and up (and their grown-ups!)

This interactive event features a very special guest: local author Lyndall Underwood, reading from her gorgeous picture book Mornington Peninsula ABC: An Alphabet Adventure.

A Storytime Event with a Twist – and a Taste!

This isn’t your average storytime. During this fun and educational workshop, your child will:

✔️ Cook both a sweet and savoury snack with support from qualified children’s cooking instructor Stefanie Glezos
✔️ Use mostly organic, local produce that ties in with themes from the book
✔️ Take part in a simple and engaging craft activity
✔️ Enjoy an exclusive storytime session with the author
✔️ Take home a personally signed copy of Mornington Peninsula ABC: An Alphabet Adventure (RRP $20)

The story and the snacks will take your little one on an alphabet adventure across the Mornington Peninsula – celebrating local landmarks, food, adventures and community connections.

It’s the perfect way to explore locally, develop life skills and enjoy a meaningful weekend activity with your child.

Why It’s Perfect for Book Week 2025

With Book Week 2025 officially kicking off on Saturday, 16 August, this workshop is the perfect way to launch your celebrations.

  • Real-life engagement with a local author
  • Interactive learning through food, books and craft

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, carer, aunt or uncle, this experience brings Book Week to life through play, literacy and local connection.

It’s low-pressure, screen-free, and full of meaningful moments - with bonus benefits:

  • Builds early literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills
  • Encourages a love of books and food
  • Fosters confidence, creativity and fun
